If you’ve started shopping around for wardrobe boxes, strength might be one of the last things you’re thinking about. Right now, things like price are probably weighing much heavier in your mind as you consider the various sources for moving boxes. No matter how many moves are ruined but under-strength boxes, most people tend to forget prior to their next move. Believe it or not, the strength and durability of your boxes will play a huge role in determining the success of your move.

Wardrobe Moving Boxes

I’m willing to bet you’re familiar with wardrobe boxes, considering you’re here at the site looking to learn more about them. But, as a refresher, wardrobe moving boxes are typically used to transport hanging clothes during a move or for long-term storage. These boxes feature an easy open top, allowing you to easily load your boxes and get at your clothes when need be. Depending on the size of the closets in your house, you will probably need several wardrobe boxes during your move. These boxes are well known for their ease of use and dependability.

Strong Wardrobe Boxes

Of course, the only wardrobe boxes with good reputations are those that are strong enough to hold up to the rigors of a move. If you’re like me, you have a tendency to slightly overload your moving boxes. If this is the case with your wardrobe boxes, then you definitely don’t want to compromise on strength. Don’t believe me? Go into your closet and try lifting all the clothes along any 24 inch span of your closet rod. Surprisingly heavy, isn’t it? This is the load that the hanging bar and walls of your wardrobe boxes have to hold. Now maybe we’re starting to understand the importance of strong wardrobe moving boxes.

Define Strong

Ok fine, so wardrobe boxes should be strong enough to handle your move. But what does that even mean? Well, for starters, you’ll want a heavy duty metal hanging bar. Don’t even bother messing around with any wardrobe boxes that come with hanging bars that feel flimsy or weak, especially if you’re interested in long-term storage. Next, you’ll want your moving boxes to feature double-wall strength. This is not all that common among wardrobe boxes, but when you see it, you’ll know it’s right. The strength of these walls virtually guarantees the safe transport of your hanging clothes on moving day. And the best way to ensure the strength of your boxes? Don’t buy used.

Get yourself some new, strong wardrobe moving boxes and see how simple your move can be.

So the move is a little more expensive than you were guessing. It’s been awhile since you had a real move and it seems to be costing a bit more than you thought it would. In this situation, it can be tempting to start cutting some corners. Maybe you don’t need the mover you like the best, or maybe you can get by with balled up newspaper instead of bubble wrap. These are both bad ideas, but just as bad is the idea of using used moving boxes…

Used Wardrobe Boxes

Wardrobe boxes are key to your move, particularly if you’re interested in moving your closets easily and reliably. That having been said, not just any wardrobe box will be able to stand up to the average move. Used wardrobe boxes are tempting from a price standpoint, but are unlikely to survive until the end of your move. Having a wardrobe box fall apart or drop all your clothes to the bottom completely negates the convenience and durability aspects that drew you to wardrobe boxes in the first place.

New Wardrobe Boxes

New wardrobe boxes, on the other hand, are built with the durability and reliability to take anything your move can throw at them. The great feeling you have when you’re easily moving your hanging clothes into a wardrobe box should last all the way through unpacking. And this will be the case if you take the care to get yourself some new wardrobe moving boxes from a reliable source of high quality moving boxes.

An Easy Move

No move can really be classified as “easy.” But, if you have wardrobe boxes at your move, you’ll feel like your move is crazy easy. There is simply no other area of your house that will get packed and moved any easier or quicker than your closets. And what else are you going to do with all those hanging clothes? Lay them in the back seat of your car? Stuff them into other moving boxes? Avoid the hassle and just pack them neatly into wardrobe boxes.

Don’t be tempted by the used box price. Go with your gut and have an easy, reliable move with new wardrobe boxes. Your clothes will thank you.

During the hustle and bustle of moving day, it can seem like good ideas are hard to come by. You’ve got all the moving boxes and supplies you could possibly need, but it’s tough to plan out the best way to go about using them efficiently. The same can be said about wardrobe boxes. Sure, you’ve made the important first step of acknowledging the usefulness of wardrobe boxes but, like any other tool, you have to know how to use them…

Portable Closets

Wardrobe boxes are much more than simply moving boxes shaped in a way to hold your closet contents. It is undeniably easy to reach into your closet, grab all the hanging clothes you can manage, and simply turn around to place them into your wardrobe boxes. So why not get it done ahead of time? You know there are more than just a few outfits that you won’t be wearing before moving day. Get those into a wardrobe box now and save yourself some time and stress as your move approaches.

Store More?

Just like your actual closet, it may be tempting to add more and more items to your wardrobe boxes during moving. While these boxes are strong and durable, keep in mind that it’s up to you or your movers to lift them all. Just like any large moving boxes, it’s important to remember to not load them down. Make no mistake about it, wardrobe boxes can easily move your hanging clothes, but your back may not appreciate it when you add your shoes, photo albums, or bowling ball collection.

In It For the Long Haul

What’s the worst part about arriving at your new place? Most people would probably say unpacking all the boxes. Lucky for you, if you pack your wardrobe boxes right, some won’t have to be unpacked right away. We’ve talked before about sorting your clothes if you plan on using multiple wardrobe boxes. This can help not only with organization, but can also allow you to store some clothes long-term.

Take a moment to browse the site for other wardrobe box moving tips. Have a great move!

So, you’ve made your peace with purchasing a few wardrobe boxes for your upcoming move. That’s an important first step, and you’ll be thanking yourself for it when you see how easy it is to pack up and safely move our closet clothes. There are a variety of tips for using wardrobe boxes, most of which are personal preference and are learned from experience. There are a few key tips that will help make your use of the wardrobe boxes more enjoyable, three of which are listed here…

1. Early and Often

Now that you’ve got your wardrobe boxes, hopefully you’ve got at least a little bit of time before your move. If so, don’t just sit there, start loading those boxes. Remember, there’re plenty of outfits in your closet that you won’t even wear before your move. Start with those. If you’re using multiple wardrobe boxes, be sure to label them clearly so they can be delivered into the correct bedroom when you arrive. Remember, clothes are often disregarded during the planning of a move, but they can take a significant portion of time and energy during packing. You can minimize this by getting a jump on things with your new wardrobe boxes.

2. Don’t Overpack

High quality wardrobe boxes are durable and strong, so I’m not worried about them. The overpacking warning is more for you and your movers. Remember, you have to transport these boxes from your house to the truck and back into your new house. Stairs obviously complicate the issue. Overloaded wardrobe boxes can be a hazard for those carrying them, as well as to the rest of your items on a bumpy ride in the moving van. Do yourself a favor by rounding up to the next wardrobe box when you’re in doubt.

3. Use Them Post-Move

Just because your move is over doesn’t mean your wardrobe boxes have finished their duties. Now that you’ve gotten a fresh look at the total contents of your closet, maybe you’ve spied a few outfits that are past their prime…come on, be honest. How about loading up a wardrobe box for a garage sale or a quick trip to the local Goodwill (be sure to keep the box). Or maybe you just have too much in your closet and you’d like to temporarily store some seasonal outfits elsewhere. Wardrobe boxes are plenty durable for long-term storage and offer convenient access to your clothing when the need arises.

You’ve taken the important step of outfitting yourself with some wardrobe boxes for your move, now make sure to use them to their fullest.

As this post is written, spring is quickly approaching. But you may be reading it a few months later, as the heat of summer ramps up or as the leaves start to change color. Either way, you have probably already started disregarding some of your wardrobe for more seasonally appropriate outfits. If you’re like a lot of us, you certainly wouldn’t mind having somewhere to safely stash all the clothe you won’t be wearing for several months. If so, read on for some helpful information on wardrobe boxes…

1. Second Closet

When we first moved into our new place, I though there was no way we could ever fill all the room we had in our closet. Come to find out that one season’s worth of clothes can easily take up that much space. If I’d have known that, I might have sprung for the builder to put in a second (or even third) closet. Have no fear, though, there’s no need to remodel your house or knock down walls for more closet space. Get yourself a few wardrobe boxes and you’ve basically got a second closet for the safe and tidy storage of any seasonal our outdated outfits. These boxes are 40 inches tall and two feet wide, giving you plenty of room for your hanging clothes on their sturdy and durable metal hanging bar.

2. Discrete Storage

Sure, you can pack away extra clothes and the new found closet space is awesome, but where are you supposed to store these portable closets? The best part is, wardrobe boxes look very similar to other moving boxes from the outside, so they’ll blend right into your basement our storage space “decor.” Not only that, but if some unseasonably warm weather hits in November, you can easily access anything you’ve stored away in your wardrobe boxes.

No matter the season, you don’t have to suffer through an overstuffed closet or dresser anymore. Get yourself some wardrobe boxes and feel your smile return as you view all your new closet space.

So your move is swiftly approaching and you are probably feeling a little overwhelmed when it comes to getting everything ready on time. Maybe you’ve even browsed the moving boxes and supplies offered at your local moving store, only to become more confused about what you really need for your move. You’ve probably noticed some tall boxes with a metal hanging bar called wardrobe moving boxes. But do you really need those for your upcoming move?

Space Hog

Ask anyone who’s moved recently, and they’re likely to tell you how they underestimated the time and space necessary to pack away their closets. Clothes are often overlooked during the planning of a move, and yet they can take up so much space in your moving boxes that you’ll feel like you’re running out of boxes at a record pace. Not to mention the extra time it takes to carefully place or fold each item of clothing so it doesn’t end up as a wrinkled mess.

Convenience

How about trying a different approach? What if you could simply lift your hanging clothes out of the closet, turn around, and hang them right back up inside a portable closet for your move? Sounds pretty easy, doesn’t it? Wardrobe moving boxes offer exactly that level of convenience and ease of use. This not only saves you time (and probably a little sanity), but also frees up all your other moving boxes to be filled with the items you originally intended them for.

Be Particular

Just like any other quality product out there, wardrobe moving boxes have their cheap imitators. When it comes time for you to select your wardrobe moving boxes, don’t settle for cheapies, but don’t spend an arm and a leg at the moving store either. You can score a fantastic deal on these easy and convenient moving boxes simply by checking out the selection from trusted online retailers offering a wide array of moving boxes and moving supplies, including ultra-durable wardrobe moving boxes.

Packing Tips

I am extremely OC (Obsessive compulsive). I want everything in order, detailed, and I don’t even want my toys moved. I know at what angle I left them and I will notice the slightest change if somebody moved them. And I don’t like people touching the windows of my car, I hate those stubborn hand prints.

I know… it’s pretty bad and some of my friends think that I’m sick or something, and I know that I get in their nerves one way or another, but what can I do? That’s me.

Anyway, I’m not supposed to talk about my bad habits here so I’ll move on. We recently moved to a beautiful house, one that I had built in great detail, and I must say that my being OC was the key to our successful move. I read tons of moving and packing tips and being the good (OC) person that I am, I made them like a bible and followed all the intelligent advices to the letter.

The hardest thing to do, at least for me, when getting ready to move is packing. Just looking at everything that needs to be packed will make you cry. But it has to be done so here’s a very good thing to do. Before touching anything, draw up a plan on how you’ll go about packing. Decide on which items you’ll pack first and make a checklist. Get rid of items that you don’t use as they’ll just use up precious space. Once you have a plan, start packing.

It is also wise to label the boxes. Make the labels big and colorful if you can. What I did is color code all the boxes so I can easily distinguish which goes where. The kitchen boxes were marked green, bedroom boxes were marked red, blue, and yellow since there are 3 of us in the family, living room boxes were marked orange, and so on… I know you get what I mean. This made organizing a breeze when we arrived at the new house.

I’m not saying that you become obsessive compulsive but being organized and detail oriented sure helps when moving. You can read all packing tips and tricks that you find but they’ll be useless if you don’t have the discipline to implement them. So if you’re planning on moving, take the packing tips that you just read to heart and start implementing them. It made me love moving. I think I wanna move again. Yeah, I’ll probably move so I can pack again.

Having enough moving boxes is important for a move to become successful; one trick is to buy more boxes than you think you need since most of the time you’d really need more than you think. And it is better to end up having extra boxes than running out of them, you can always sell extra boxes at Ebay or give it away at Craigslist. Bottom line is, the more boxes the better.

Be realistic though and estimate your needs intelligently. If you’re moving from a 1 bedroom flat, 20 moving boxes would be too much unless you’re planning to pack the flat itself.

One of the good things to do is to check out moving kits from online stores who specialize in selling moving boxes, they have a suggested number of boxes (in different sizes) needed for moving depending on the number of rooms in your house. Here are some sample moving kits that you will find online.

1 Room Moving Kit

10 Medium Boxes (18×14x12)
5 large boxes (20×20x15)
55 yards of moving tape
40′ Bubble wrap
1 Box Marker

2 Room Moving Kit

20 Medium Boxes (18×14x12)
10 Large Boxes (20×20x15)
110 Yards of moving tape
80′ Bubble Wrap
2 Box Markers

3 Room Moving Kit

30 Medium Boxes (18×14x12)
15 Large Boxes (20×20x15)
165 yards of moving tape
120′ Bubble Wrap
3 Box Marker

The list goes on. There are moving kits for up to 10 rooms and you can also purchase boxes separately if you think that you still need more. And notice that the kits also contain other essential moving supplies needed like a moving tape, bubble wrap, and marker. These are things that will help you organize your packing and make unpacking easy as well.

Another thing is to make sure that you use the boxes appropriately to keep your things from getting damaged and to avoid accidents. Ask for packing tips upon purchasing the moving boxes as these companies know the capacity and strength of their boxes and are generally experienced in moving as well.

So now that you finally found your dream house and you’re getting ready to move in, it is time to face one of the most difficult parts of moving…PACKING. Though the thought of moving to your dream house is exciting, the process could still be very stressful if you are clueless of what to do. First time movers usually go through a stressful phase when planning the move.

One of the critical things to pack are dresses, when packing dresses you have to make sure that they don’t get ruined and wrinkles are minimized. Wrinkles are unavoidable; I have yet to see somebody who managed to pack a dress and moved it without getting wrinkled.

Get a large box and pack dresses together – Preferably a box where you only have to fold the dresses (women’s dresses) in half, this will minimize the wrinkles. The number of dresses you’d want to pack in one box depends on you. Of course the more you fit in one box, the more wrinkles the dresses will get.

Make sure dress shirts are pressed before packing – This goes for men’s dress shirts, before packing you’d want them to be neatly pressed and folded. Folds should be kept to a minimum to avoid creases. And when packing, use larger items like pants to line the bottom before putting in your dress shirts. And make sure not to over stuff your luggage as your clothes will press together and leave deep creases.

Put your dress box or luggage on top of the stack – You don’t want pressure over it since the box could crumple if stacked under heavier boxes. I know this is common sense but it is very easy to overlook this when moving so make sure that your box is properly labeled.

Dresses are expensive and are a little fragile so you’d want to take good care of them especially during a move. Again, wrinkles may be unavoidable but lessening them is definitely doable.
